The Process

How virtual sessions actually work

Request an Intro Call

Fill out a brief form and we'll match you with the right dietitian. A short free call follows to confirm fit, answer questions, and walk through next steps. No commitment required.

Join Your First Session

You'll receive a video link before each appointment. Your first session runs about 60 minutes. Your dietitian reviews your health history, goals, current habits, and any relevant lab work.

Build Your Plan Together

Between sessions you'll receive personalized guidance — not generic meal plans. Follow-up sessions review what's working, adjust the approach, and reinforce the habits that produce lasting change.

Stay Consistent With Support

Clients who complete the Foundation Package have the option to continue with monthly accountability sessions, keeping progress on track without starting over.

Who It's For

Virtual works well when…

Virtual sessions remove the logistical barriers that get in the way of consistent care. They're a good fit for a wide range of situations.

Your Schedule Is Unpredictable

Early morning, lunch break, or after the kids are in bed — virtual appointments flex around your day instead of the other way around.

You're Not Near Roanoke or Richmond

If you live elsewhere in Virginia and want access to an RDN without the drive, virtual sessions give you the same level of care from wherever you are.

You Prefer Your Own Environment

Eating habits are shaped by your kitchen, your pantry, your household. Being at home during sessions makes the work more practical and grounded.

You Have a Chronic Condition

Managing diabetes, heart disease, or another condition alongside a busy life is hard enough. Virtual sessions reduce one barrier and improve follow-through consistency.

You Want Both Dietitians as Options

Either Kelsey or Macie can see you virtually. If your schedule changes or you relocate within Virginia, your care continues without interruption.

You've Tried Before Without Success

If past attempts at changing eating habits haven't stuck, the one-on-one format with ongoing accountability is meaningfully different from apps, programs, or group settings.

Your Dietitian

Meet the team behind your virtual care

Both dietitians see virtual clients throughout Virginia. When you submit a request, we'll connect you with the provider who's the best fit for your goals and schedule.

Client Stories

Client reviews & success stories

I loved working with Kelsey! She is kind, non-judgmental and knowledgeable. As a newly diagnosed Diabetic, she helped me understand food! I would highly recommend anyone that needs help navigating their food intake to contact her. She truly cares!

Carole S.Roanoke, VA · Diabetes Management

I have been working with Finesse Nutrition for about one and a half years. I have had terrific results. Kelsey is excellent to work with — thoughtful and professional. If you are willing to put in the work, you will have great results.

Robert P.Virtual

I've tried every diet imaginable. This was the first time someone helped me understand why I was struggling, not just handing me a list of foods to avoid.

Common Questions

Questions about virtual nutrition counseling

Is virtual nutrition counseling as effective as in-person?

Virtual sessions offer the same one-on-one care, with the same dietitians, as in-person sessions. The format often allows for more frequent touchpoints and greater scheduling flexibility, which tends to improve consistency. What matters most is the quality of the provider relationship — not the room.

What platform do you use for sessions?

Sessions happen by video call on your phone, tablet, or computer. You'll receive a private link before each appointment and can join from wherever you are.

Who can book a virtual session?

Virtual sessions are available to residents of Virginia. We currently see clients located in Virginia.

Can I switch between virtual and in-person?

Yes. If you're in the Roanoke or greater Richmond area, you can transition to in-person sessions at any time — or mix both formats within the same care plan. Just let your dietitian know your preference and we'll adjust accordingly.

Does insurance cover virtual nutrition counseling?

We're private pay and are not in-network with any plan. HSA and FSA funds are generally eligible for a diagnosed condition with a letter of medical necessity from your doctor. Contact your plan to confirm before your first session.

What's the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) has completed an accredited degree program, a supervised clinical internship, and passed a national board examination. In Virginia, both "dietitian" and "nutritionist" are protected titles (Code of Virginia § 54.1-2731). Our dietitians are Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
