Whether you're training for your first half marathon, building toward an ultra, riding long weekends on the Blue Ridge Parkway or fitting a triathlon plan around a full-time job, what you eat shapes how you train, race and recover. Most endurance athletes get plenty of advice from training partners and the internet. Much less of it is tailored to their body, their schedule and their sport.
What we work on together
- Daily fueling that matches your training load, so hard weeks don't leave you running on empty
- What to eat before, during and after long sessions, and how to practice it in training
- Race-day nutrition and hydration plans you've already tested
- Recovery nutrition, including protein and carbohydrate after hard efforts
- Fatigue and the signs you may not be eating enough for your training
- Stomach issues during long runs and rides
Enough fuel, not less
Many endurance athletes under-fuel without realizing it, especially when they're also trying to change their body composition. Regularly eating too little for your training can leave you tired, slow to recover and more prone to injury. We help you find the balance: enough energy for your training, and an eating pattern that still fits your health goals.
Built around your season
Your needs in base training are different from your needs during a peak block or taper. We plan nutrition around your training calendar and adjust it as your season changes, so race day isn't the first time you try your fueling plan.
Real food first
Gels, drink mixes and bars have their place, especially during long efforts. But most of your fueling happens at ordinary meals. We help you build everyday meals and snacks that support training without taking over your kitchen or your budget.
Virtual or in person
Sports nutrition sessions are available by video call anywhere in Virginia, or in person in the Roanoke Valley and the greater Richmond area.
