About Kelsey

Richmond's nutrition founder

Kelsey Shaughnessy is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and the founder of Finesse Nutrition. A Richmond native and Virginia Tech graduate, she completed her Dietetic Internship at the University of Delaware, has been a registered dietitian since 2017, and founded the practice in 2021 to help clients break the chronic dieting cycle for good.

Kelsey's specialty is helping clients understand the "why" behind their eating patterns and build a relationship with food that doesn't depend on willpower or restrictions. Her clients throughout the greater Richmond area see her in-person or connect virtually throughout Virginia.

She works with clients across a wide range of concerns: weight loss, Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes, elevated cholesterol, cardiovascular health, women's hormonal nutrition, and chronic dieting recovery for those who have tried everything and want to finally stop cycling.

I loved working with Kelsey! She is kind, non-judgmental and knowledgeable. As a newly diagnosed Diabetic, she helped me understand food! I would highly recommend anyone that needs help navigating their food intake to contact her. She truly cares!

Carole S.Roanoke, VA · Diabetes Management

I have been working with Finesse Nutrition for about one and a half years. I have had terrific results. Kelsey is excellent to work with — thoughtful and professional. If you are willing to put in the work, you will have great results.

Robert P.Virtual

I've tried every diet imaginable. This was the first time someone helped me understand why I was struggling, not just handing me a list of foods to avoid.

Our dietitians are Registered Dietitian Nutritionists.

Finesse Nutrition's session rate is $120 for a session of about 60 minutes. The Foundation package (four sessions) is $420. Ongoing monthly support starts at $60/month after the Foundation. We're private pay and are not in-network with any plan.

Can I do virtual sessions if I live outside the Richmond area?

Yes. Virtual sessions are available for clients who can't meet in person, provided they reside in Virginia. Contact us to discuss scheduling a virtual session.
